I am planning a 16 day trip to the USA do any of your policies include holiday cancellation? For example if I book my flights and then one of my elderly parents got sick or died and I had to cancel the flights?

Round trip international
It offers more generous baggage loss benefits than plain international health insurance plans as well as a trip cancellation benefit. If you do go on your trip, then it offers health insurance while on your trip (often with no deductible).

Yes there will be a refund if you return from the US early. The refund will be a full refund if it is before the start of the insurance. If the refund is requested after the coverage has started, the refund is based on a Pro rata basis.

You have to call WorldTrips to cancel your current insurance, Atlas International. Then purchase Atlas America afterwards. With a policy maximum of 50,000, you will have 50,000 coverage for emergency medical evacuation and repatriation.

If you cancel the plan after it has started AND there is no claim filed on the policy, you can get a pro-rated refund of the remaining amount MINUS a $25 cancellation fee.
However, you can renew your policy for only a $5 fee, so it is more economical to purchase only the time you know you need and then extend it as needed. You can extend and purchase a policy for as many days as you like (3 months, 2 months, 45 days, etc). You will receive an email reminding you that the policy is available for renewal in the last month of the policy.

You need to contact the insurance company in writing; however they accept email. Be sure to include the name of the insured, date of birth, and certificate number and the reason for the cancellation. If you are canceling before the start date of the policy, you will get a full refund to your credit card which you can expect in 7 to 10 business days. Please note that they will not contact you about the cancellation, but you can check your credit card to look for the credit.
Please note, if you tell us the name of the company or policy you purchased from we can tell you the email address you need to contact. Otherwise, you should be able to find it in your confirmation document (you generally should NOT reply to the confirmation document as it does not go to a valid email address).

You should contact the insurance company in writing that you wish to cancel the policy (they will accept email). Tell them the certificate number, the names and dates of birth of the insured and the reason for the cancellation. If the policy has not started you will get a full refund. If it has started and no claims have been filed, you will get a pro-rated refund minus a cancellation fee.

For any of our visitor policies which can be purchased for the number of days of a person's trip, you will get a full refund as long as you cancel Before the start date of the insurance policy (one exception is Diplomat America and Diplomat LongTerm, they charge a cancellation fee even before it starts). They want to know in writing about the cancellation, but they accept email so it's quite simple and quick.
If a person has a medical issue, the first thing to do is see if the provider will deal with the insurance company and then you would only have to pay your portion of the bill (your visitor's). If the provider will not deal with the insurance company, then it may be necessary for your visitor to pay up front and submit a claim for reimbursement.
